It’s not R2 and it’s not Children’s Mercy, but we’re back walking the halls of a hospital again today. My mother-in-law collapsed while out to lunch and they are trying to figure out why.
The same thing happened to her on Thanksgiving. We were playing charades and she passed out, was non-responsive and finally dazed and confused by the time the ambulance arrived. Last time she was able to talk the ER docs into letting her go home that night, even though they couldn’t pin down what was going on. This time the doctor insisted she stay overnight for observation. They still don’t know what is causing her syncopy, just that she was dehydrated.
We kept Grams company while the staff ordered more tests, monitored her, and kept her on a drip. Not exactly a fun day or the way we all planned to celebrate her 83rd birthday. Yep, that’s right. Today was her birthday.
Another day, another hospital, another detour…. Life doesn’t always go as planned.
Remember, faith works!
I’m so sorry you had to spend her birthday in this manner.
My Thanksgiving and Valentines Day were both derailed because of me getting sick and having to visit the ER. So, plans don’t always go our way, but we keep looking up to the one who, in His infinite wisdom, sees us and will take care of us.
I hope they can figure her problem out soon. Much prayers for you all.
Melissa, thank you so much. I’m sorry you had your holidays derailed also. 🙁 The doctors believe it was a combination of her blood pressure meds being too high and dehydration. She’s home now and feeling much better. In fact, Grams is quite relieved as all her tests came back good so now she knows there are no hidden health issues lurking about. God always works things out for the best for us in the end.
