During Holy Week, before celebrating Easter Sunday and the joy of the Resurrection, my mind always turns to the price Jesus paid for us.
As painful as it looks, the Crown of Thorns was nothing compared to the rest of Christ’s suffering leading up to and on the Cross. I’ve read several different accounts that look at the clinical, medical aspects of Christ’s suffering and they are not for the faint at heart. Beginning with His beating and scourging and ending on the Cross, what He endured was horrific torture that we can barely wrap our minds around. That anyone would knowingly, willingly put themselves through such barbaric treatment and excruciating agony for me, to save me is mind-boggling and humbling.
Nothing I can ever do will repay the sacrifice made for me. Thankfully, I don’t have to. It was a gift of Grace.
Remember, faith works!
