I decided to revisit yesterday’s drawing and the result was a very minimalist cuppa. I wanted to redo the drawing with the bare minimum of lines for a sparse, graphic look. It was actually harder to do than I anticipated. I kept wanting to add line variation, cross-hatching, tone– anything to give it more form. I never realized drawing flat would bother me so much. I kept wanting to add some sort of modeling… Even looking at this, my last version, I want to grab it and redo it with color, texture, form. Weird, how we get locked into a style and something different feels so alien and wrong….
