Walking Shoes, Art 365-16-44

It was cold again today, so I went walking in a mall for #apilgrimsdraw.  DH and R2 went with me.  It was great to have the company and support.  When we got back home I did a quickie sketch of my comfy walking shoes.

I am blessed to have the support and encouragement of my family for my art, my fitness goals, and for this Lenten series walking along on the Pilgrim’s Path.   Having companions along on a journey to hold you accountable, to encourage you and to keep you grounded in reality is important.  I would never dream of going on a mountain hike of any serious distance without a partner, yet so many Christians think they can go it alone through life.  Yes, sometimes you’re wiped out and don’t feel like going to Church and interacting with humans.  Yes, there are ‘bad’ Churches that wound souls.  And yes, there are probably ‘Churches’ out there that are really money-making machines.  But we need to work through all that.  Sift through all the bad and find the priceless treasure of a Church home.  We were created to be part of a community of believers.  None of us can go it alone either on a mountain trail or on our journey through life…

We do need companions. That’s why there is Church to begin with I think. Right now, I am in protest in my Church which I think does not treat women fairly so do not “fill the pew” and let the leaders think everything is okay. That said, I do speak up for my Church and my faith when others misconstrue what We/I believe about things and I do give to several Church run charities. SOME contact seems to be vital to me. I also have my sisters and then the surprise friend like you who crosses my path of faith in a way. Yep, meeting, crossing paths with, and sharing all help. Your shoes look pretty good too!

Timaree– I am so sorry to hear of your conflict in Church, but at least you are blessed by your sisters and friends in faith. I am so thrilled by the ‘ surprise ‘ friends God sends our way!!
Thank you, after all the walking time those poor shoes have endured , I think they look better on paper than in person. Why is it so hard to retire old, comfy shoes???

That’s the Commentluv plugin I have on the blog. It will display the latest post of the commenter’s blog if they have a blog. It is supposed to help foster community and help readers discover new blogs and posts they might like. I think when you post a comment there might be the option not to include your latest blog post. It’s kinda hard for me to check that feature since it always logs me as admin….

A Who Christmas Tree

While browsing on DeviantArt (not as diabolical as the name sounds- the site originally was folks who took computer applications and ‘deviated’ them from their original purpose) I found a cute stock photo by Pink-Stock  titled Whoville Tree: Adorable right?  Well, being the rabid Dr. Who fan that I am the name immediately made me […]

Closeup view of a watercolor of cattails by RaSonya Pearce

Cattail Explosion

The cattails exploding with fluffy seeds along our walking trail were so captivating that I couldn’t resist painting them– The weather here in the Midwest has been swinging wildly between bitter cold and balmy warm days.  The day I took this photo I was able to go walking in a t-shirt, in January!!! When I […]

New! Free Video- Paint Christmas Ornaments

Hi guys!  I just put up another FREE video over at the classroom. My favorite colors are blue and green so it is no surprise that I love blue Christmas ornaments.  I think they look sooo pretty against the green tree branches. I did this little painting (with some added Photoshop magic) for my Christmas […]
